Michael Cera plays awkward and hilarious roles perfectly with what seems like little-to-no acting involved, so it's not hard to imagine that his audition tapes for 2007 teen comedy movie Superbad were just that.
Watch the audition here:
The rib-tickling 00s movie features scene after scene of cringeworthy moments as high school seniors, Seth (Jonah Hill), Evan (Michael Cera) and Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) try to plan a booze-soaked party that goes awry.

In a clip entitled 'Before They Were Famous: Michael Cera Edition' uploaded to TikTok by platform user @thejokershorts, a young Cera can be seen donning his signature curly trim while wearing a blue and white striped sweatshirt and practicing his lines with award-winning funny-man Rogen.
Cera fits the role of his character Evan perfectly in this practicing scene, saying: "Instead of spending the last three years chasing girls and making friends I've spent them sitting around talking b******t with you, y'know? I mean, because of you I'm known in college as a f*****g friendless virgin!
"You're not f*****g up tonight man, not tonight."

To which Rogen, who plays Officer Michaels, retorts: "Getting with a girl will not make you any less of a loser next year, okay?," before Cera snaps back: "Oh, are you talking to me or are you talking to yourself, you f*****g loser?"
One TikTok user has commented on the video saying: "Michael cera was famous before superbad. Very famous. Superbad just got him even more famous." with another adding "Cera was so famous before this that he was George Michael," referring to his role in TV comedy series Arrested Development.
More audition tapes for Superbad can be found over on YouTube, including a hilarious three-way conversation between Seth, Evan and Fogell acting out the iconic fake ID scene where Fogell presents his Hawaiian drivers license with the name 'McLOVIN' printed on it.

Rogen and the rest of the Superbad crew can be heard laughing along in the background of the tape whilst the three young actors try their best to keep their composure as Mintz-Plasse says: "I've got it dude, chill out. Alright man, it's flawless. Here, check it out."
A confused Cera responds "McLOVIN? Why does it say McLOVIN on it?" to which Mintz-Plasse replies: "Well, they let you pick any name that you want when you get down there."
Meanwhile, one big fan of the film commented on the YouTube clip saying: "This movie is a handful of incredible sketches condensed to their purest form. they cut out so many good jokes and left AMAZING ones. easily the best comedy of the past 20 years."
