What happened at the end of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window?
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window starts off with Anna beginning to fall in love with Neil (Tom Riley), before realising that he has a girlfriend in flight attendant Lisa (Shelley Hennig). One night, Anna looks out her window to see Lisa with blood pouring from her neck. Anna proceeds to call the police to report the murder, but both the police and Neil insist that Lisa hasn’t died.
During the series, watchers of the show were shown how different characters could be responsible for Lisa’s death if she had died. Anna pips Neil as being the most likely killer, no doubt because of all the other women who mysteriously died during his past. The series also saw the temporary arrest of Rex, and even depicted Anna as being Lisa’s killer.
In episode eight, the truth comes to light: it was Neil’s daughter, Emma (Samsara Leela Yett) who killed Lisa. The big reveal comes as Anna spots Buell approaching the neighbour’s home with a hammer in hand, making Anna believe he is Lisa’s killer.
When Anna finally gets to the house, she sees Buell and Neil lying dead with slits in their throats. She then sees Emma standing at the crime scene with a knife in hand, confirming her as the murderer all along. The girl tells the truth about why she killed Lisa, saying her motive was because Lisa refused to buy her chocolates for school.
The show then revealed that the child previously killed her own mother when she was pregnant with her sibling, because she wanted to be an only-child. Emma also killed one of her school teachers in the past because she called her crazy. The girl then decided to kill her father because she found his ventriloquism hobby annoying.
Emma then attempted to end Anna’s life in her killing streak that night, but Emma killed the girl in self-defense. Anna’s ex-husband Douglas (Michael Ealy) shows up just in time to be a witness for Emma’s death. This meant Anna was able to be cleared from the convictions of Lisa and Neil’s murders.
