You season four viewers ‘feel like they’re watching Gossip Girl’

Xoxo, You.

Part one of You season four is out on Netflix now and Joe Goldberg is trying to put is murderous, stalky ways behind him after moving across the pond to London.

But this time, the tables have turned, and Joe Goldberg quickly finds himself the victim of his own mysterious stalker who communicates with him through anonymous text messages.

And let's just say the whole plot seems a little... familiar.

Aside from You, Penn Badgley is probably best known for his performance as Dan Humphrey in Gossip Girl.

The 2000's teen drama ran for six seasons as fans - and the teens of the Upper East Side - tried to figure out who was behind the notorious Gossip Girl account.

That's the storyline that's suddenly springing to mind for fans who have been binging the new season of You on Netflix.

"I feel like I’m watching Gossip Girl," tweeted one viewer. "Waiting for Kristen Bell's voice to appear lmao."

"You season 4 is like Gossip Girl throwing an UNO reverse card and I am here for it," wrote a second.

And a third has penned: "So You season 4 is just the British Gossip Girl Poor lonely boy."

They're two completely different storylines... right?

Let's do a quick compare and contrast to try and get to the bottom of this, shall we?

You season four sees Penn Badgley's character Joe Goldberg in one of the most popular cities in the world - London.

He quickly finds himself surrounded by the city's elite and powerful.

He goes to their parties and gets quite close to some of them - particularly the leader of the pack, Kate - though they only seem to see him as an outsider.

One day, Joe gets an anonymous text message from someone who claims to know his true identity and the past he left behind.

Tormented by the anonymous texter who threatens to out him if he doesn't follow their rules, Joe sets off to try and uncover their identity.

Now on to Gossip Girl.

Joe Goldberg is now a professor in London.

Gossip Girl sees Penn Badgley's character Dan Humphreys in one of the most popular cities in the world - New York.

He quickly finds himself surrounded by the city's elite and powerful teens.

He goes to their parties and gets quite close to some of them - particularly the leaders of the pack, Blair Waldorff and Serena van der Woodsen - though they only seem to see him as an outsider.

One day, the teens of the Upper East Side get a notification from an anonymous blogger who claims to know everything about them.

While going about their glamorous, privileged, scandalous lives, the teens try to uncover the identity of the anonymous 'Gossip Girl'.

Anyone see a resemblance there?

Me neither, dunno what those viewers are talking about...
