Wherever you are in the world, a good bit of British grub can give you a taste of home.
But unfortunately for this bloke, his efforts to find some comfort food while travelling through India, didn't pan out exactly how he had hoped.
The backpacker explained that he is an English man who is currently making his way through the South Asian country, and that he found himself craving some good old fish and chips.

As we all know, a chippy tea is a staple in the UK and you'd probably think it's pretty difficult to muck this meal up... but somehow, this restaurant managed to make a right pig's ear of the British delicacy.
The fella shared a snap of the dodgy looking dish - which resembled something rather unfortunate - in a Reddit post, explaining he was left baffled by the contents of his plate.
He wrote: "Fancied some British food and ordered fish and chips… wow, what a sight this was."
What a sight indeed.

The Brit was served up a handful of fries accompanied by six strange looking objects which didn't resemble something out of the sea in the slightest - instead, it looked more like what you'd find in a sewer.
And to top it all off, the food was garnished with what appeared to be a squeeze of mayonnaise - there was no tartar sauce, gravy or curry sauce in sight.
As you can imagine, the Redditor was less than impressed with what he was presented with.

But on the other hand, social media users thought the fish and chip saga was hilarious - and they had plenty of puns to share about the scran too.
One person joked: "It’s definitely fish! It’s just recycled…"
Another laughed: "Just because you caught it floating in the river doesn’t necessarily make it a fish."

A third added: "Where is the fish? I see sh*t and chips."
A fourth wrote: "They must have thought you said faeces and chips."
While a fifth chimed in: "Kind of curious about how it tasted."
Thankfully, one person did share some information about what on earth the restaurant gave the bloke, as they explained that the brown objects 'are likely fish cutlets'.

The user continued: "There is meat in the inside, likely fish in this case, and a chickpea breading or similar (lentil, pea, flour) and deep fried. Of course, some Indian spices which also give the dark colour.
"In my home they are usually made with beef, and are super delicious.
"We also make them more of a flat disk shape, like a large thick coin which also make them more appealing then the shape shown."
I suppose we can't knock it till we have tried it, eh?
