One content creator took it upon himself to eat only ultra-processed food for two weeks and share the results with viewers.
While more people than ever before have an eye on their diet and keep track of what goes into their body, the red flags around ultra-processed foods have become more prominent.
Ultra-processed foods can be defined as food that has gone through industrial processing, including ingredients that may not be used in regular cooking.

Additives, preservatives or artificial ingredients may be included, as well as sweeteners.
Think packaged snacks, fizzy drinks, and processed meats.
However, Gavin Wren, a self-described 'food policy specialist', made himself a lab rat to see what would happen to his body, physically and mentally after two weeks of an ultra-processed food diet.

After eating pizzas, fast food such as McDonalds, and Red Bulls for four days, he admitted on the morning of day five that he felt 'rough'.

Speaking to his YouTube audience, the normally healthy and active content creator admitted: "I feel really rough. I don't know why. I actually had a rest day yesterday from my exercise for my training. I ate around the right amount of calories as well.
"I've done my normal morning morning routine... so I don't know."
However, he showed that he was having some Alpine with oat milk, and as he couldn't have any water, he had to settle for some squash.
Gavin added: "These are all ultra-processed, I'm quite sensitive to like the food that I eat and I feel I'm just one of those people that's just sensitive to changes."

While eating bread and for his mid-morning snack, he found that the sourdough bread he was eating had one gram of fat in each slice with added vegetable oil, very different to his homemade rye sourdough that he usually has.
Heading to the gym, he candidly stated: "I feel like s*** today, I've got no energy," explaining that he usually takes part in triathlon training and works out six times a week, but he had no energy after five days of the extreme diet.
By the end of day five, Gavin said he 'didn't really' do a workout and even said he was 'wobbly' in the gym.

"I feel a bit queasy to be honest. I just feel really unsettled in myself. My body is feeling almost fizzy, like it's lacking any energy," he pointed out, adding that he's been getting 'brain fog'.

The content creator explained: "My body is struggling to process whatever it is that I need to do and the problem is with this, is that I don't get paid to make any of this content - I would really like to get paid for making it."
Admitting that the diet was 'f***ing up his day to day life', he decided to pause the challenge as he would end up feeling 'rubbish' with his 'energy levels in the gutter' by day five.
However, he did also point out that his diet and lifestyle might be different to the majority of others, and encouraged others to enjoy food, calling 'absolutism' an unhealthy eating behaviour.
