Most people mull over the fact that they have to fork out anywhere between £30-£50 per month for a gym membership... but what about £8,000?

Well, that's how much you'll have to pay every month if you want to be part of Continuum, an exclusive wellness social club located in the affluent neighbourhood of Greenwich Village in New York.

Officially opening its doors in April 2024 to its founding members, the health retreat, luxury lounge and top-class gym offers everything that fitness freaks desire.

The 25,000-square-foot space is also limited to having 250 members that can use their facilities, so it'd be a good idea to join the waiting list if you're interested.

Jeff Halevy, a former fitness tech entrepreneur and the CEO and president of Continuum, explained to the New York Post: “It’s very different from anything that exists,

"Our unique value proposition to remember is the integration of all these modalities at a very high level. We’re doing the homework for everybody, not just in developing the programming but in curating the actual experts that are going to work with them."

The premium fitness sector continues to grow, as the gym's $10,000 (£8,000) per month price tag for eager members might seem worth it to those willing to splash, for a number of reasons.

Here's what happens after you join...

Members will go through a data-driven, extremely detailed 'onboarding assessment' that even looks at your VO2 Max oxygen consumption testing, body composition scans, blood panels and sleep analysis.

You also won't be surprised to hear that AI is used in the process.

This 'knowledge set' is analysed with AI, and a specialist then formulates an individual wellness plan for the member.

Continuum then provides wearables and a companion app that allows you to track your progress, as the AI algorithm works constantly to update training recommendations.

It almost feels like we're in the future.

Halevy further explains that exercise 'is just one lever', with the real focus on health and wellness, aiming for something that will help with your lifestyle, focusing on sleep, what you eat and even how you recover after a workout.

“There’s a geometric return when it’s more than just exercise,” the CEO claimed.

It's about long-term health, as chief revenue officer and vice president, Tom Wingert, added that they are 'in the business of preventative care', and that it's more of a 'scientific approach'.

In the gym itself, you'll find personal trainers, though they're not actually called that.

For £8,000, you can call them 'human performance specialists', though Keiser Strength equipment and Woodway treadmills are up for grabs to use too.

Halevy highlighted that their trainers and physical therapists have masters or doctorates 'in their respective fields', and five years of experience.

“Just because someone is certified, doesn’t mean they’re qualified,” he insisted, which I'm sure all gym-goers can get on board with.

If members want to recover, physical therapy or medi-spa treatments are among your choicesm which can include cold plunges, hyperbaric chambers, a Himalayan salt sauna, or a simple massage, among many other things.

An IV vitamin drip is also an option, and honestly, I didn't know this existed outside of hospitals.

There's also a lounge, an art and plant-filled door with work spaces and even nap pods. You could live here for goodness' sake.

A bar serves light beverages, while you relax on one of the plush sofas - think five-star hotel.

There are plans for more Continuum venues to open across the US soon.
