A private investigator who's exposed loads of cheating partners has revealed the one 'weird' thing most unfaithful men do.

Cassie Crofts runs 'dating background check' website Venus Investigations (@venusinvestigations) in Australia, specifying in uncovering infidelity.

While many would assume that the typical signs of cheating would include someone's other half suddenly working late every night, or spending way too much time on their phones, it turns out that there's one lesser known sign that most unfaithful men are guilty of showing.

And believe it or not, it's not a sudden interest in looking their very best at all times.

According to the content creator, cheaters will often keep their car in tip top condition.

As strange as it sounds, a clean and polished car can apparently be a red flag, especially if that level of cleanliness is out of character.

She explained that when people start a new relationship, they often make more effort with, not only their physical appearance, but the appearance of their whip too.

"I'm a private investigator who has caught hundreds of cheaters and there's one really weird sign that a man is cheating," she said.

"This was actually told to me by a mentor and since he mentioned it, I can't stop seeing it in so many cases.

"It's men going and getting their car cleaned, getting it detailed, getting it washed, when they don't generally do that.

"There's something about the start of a new affair, new relationship that makes men want to have a pristine car."

Many in the comments could relate too, sharing their infidelity stories.

"My ex (did this) and every time I got out of the car, he made sure I took every single item of mine out - sunnies, hat and bottle of water - everything," one viewer said.

"It was wild! I had a gut feeling why he told me to."

"I found a tube of mascara in my ex-husband's car when we first started dating and we were long distance. He also got it cleaned to make sure nothing was left in the car," another penned.

Other users agreed that it's not only a clean car, adding: "New haircut and cologne. That's why an affair is the greatest act of disrespect. They can dress up for someone else but not their committed partner."

In the UK, one in five adults have admitted to cheating on their partner at some point.

According to a YouGov survey, men are more likely to have an affair with a colleague at work, while women tend to go for their friends.

Men are also more likely than women to cheat again, as 49 percent of cheating males admitted to doing it more than once, compared to 41 percent of cheating females.
