A former cruise ship worker has explained that Virgin cruises ended up removing an item which had been provided to passengers in their cabins for the 'adults only' cruise after deciding it was too much.
While some see a cruise as the purview of the elderly, there are some companies that have tried to entice a younger audience with a different vibe.
Certain cruise liners cater to the 'spicy cruise' market for people who very much want to rock the boat and while on board, and taking pictures and videos is generally not allowed.

Basically, how it works is a company will buy out an entire cruise liner, which will sail an actual route, but the on-board entertainment will be rather different.
It's probably for the best that they're buying out the whole thing; you don't want Doris and Bernard accidentally booking onto the wrong trip to Corfu.
Anyhow, former cruise ship worker Lucy puts out plenty of videos on what it's like to work on board one of these adult cruises, and spoke about how Virgin decided to tweak their 'adults only' cruise experience after deciding things had got 'a bit much for the average cruiser'.

She explained that things had changed since it first began, saying that the ship's ice cream parlour was called 'lick me till ice cream' and a 'risque show' which involved passengers being invited on stage to lick bananas, presumably because bananas are the fruit that most closely resemble a penis.
Anyhow, she went on to say that there used to be an item provided to all passengers which is now no longer handed out.
"Believe it or not, each cabin originally came equipped with a vibrator and a fun fact is the Max store on the Scarlet Lady was initially intended to be a toy shop," Lucy explained, and you can likely guess that the toys intended to be sold in the shop weren't expensive Lego kits.
"This bold approach, as you can imagine, turned out to be a bit much for the average cruiser, which led to Virgin Voyages being labelled as a 'sex cruise' or a place for swingers which was far from the brand's original vision."
Lucy said that in the meantime they'd 'dialled back' some of the more adult stuff in the hopes of maintaining a 'playful vibe' while being more appealing to a 'wider audience' who might have been worrying they'd hopped aboard a sex boat.

A major point of difference is that Virgin were trying to do an adults-only cruise with a cheeky vibe and not one of these 'spicy cruises' you hear so much about, mainly from places like this.
These 'spicy' cruise ships generally have some very clear rules on what you can and can't do.
It's not all wandering around stark b**lock naked though, as they had some clear guidelines on what to wear when going for dinner.
