With invites to sit in your mate’s gaff and cheers a can at midnight or try and cram into the local to end up missing last orders before the bells toll, you might be looking for something a little different to do on New Year’s Eve.
After spending Christmas back home and with various friends and family, perhaps you’re just wanting to get away to see in 2025.
And luckily, you could go and fly off to a European party capital for the night at less than the cost of a food shop.

According to NimbleFins’ analysis of data from the Office of National Statistics, the average price of a food shop for a family of four in the UK comes in at £117.
Or, it’s at £90 for an average weekly food bill (including eating out) for two adults.
So, if you consider stocking up, making some swaps and using some of your saved cash, you could just fly off to Prague for £79 for a bargain bash.

With a few different low-cost options available from around the UK, you can currently bag yourself a flight from Manchester to Prague on the morning of 31 December with a return the next day.
You’ll just need to make sure you’re up early though (or perhaps just don’t go to sleep at all) as the flight back is at 9:15am on New Year’s Day.
Just two hours there with Ryanair, you’ll land in the capital of the Czech Republic at 11:45am, so you’ll have plenty of time to grab lunch and see the sights before the celebrations kick off.
Prague is often picked out as a nice little city break by Brits thanks to its cheap pints and old-worldy-like feel.

One dad even took his family there for half a day as something to do, saying all the buildings ‘look like they are from Disney’.
There’s of course plenty of sightseeing to do in the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ as well as chimney cakes to eat and pints of Staropramen to drink.
Like most capital cities do, Prague of course puts on a show for New Year’s Eve.

There isn’t always necessarily one big fireworks show by the city but Czech people and businesses are said to love setting them off a midnight and there are even river cruises you can board to see them from.
Many people gather on the Charles Bridge to watch them by the river as others attend organised parties in restaurants and bars to ring in the new year.
Either way, it all sounds more exciting than sitting in your pal’s living room for another year and cheersing a glass of Prosecco while the fireworks are on the telly.
