Packing for your summer holiday can be a real pain.
Nobody wants to pay to put their bags in the hold and who'd choose to wait for them to be unloaded from the plane when you could already be on your way to the hotel bar?
But, trying to fit everything you need for your trip into a single carry-on bag can be impossible and almost always ends up in cutting corners and bringing less than you want.

As a result, social media is full of hacks to maximise space and even beat carry on liquid limits.
Another you're likely to have seen is the viral 'pillow hack,' which sees travellers stuff their clothes into pillowcases and neck pillows in order to get around the extra bag fee.
According to the videos, a pillow is considered a 'comfort item' and means you don't have to pay for an extra bag.

Unfortunately for those wanting to give it a try, airport staff seem to have cottoned on to the hack, as one passenger found out the hard way.
In a video by @natashaorganic on TikTok, one traveller had shown up to Orlando International Airport with his pillowcase of belongings in hand only to be foiled by an airline attendant.
"Stop letting social media give you tips and tricks because sometimes it's not gonna work," she said in the clip, while filming the passenger arguing with a member of staff in an orange vest.

"This dude was trying to take in a pillowcase full of clothing and other items which he is stating was simply just a pillowcase and the dude was was like bro, everybody can see it's not a freaking pillow, like come on," she continued.
According to Natasha, the man was offered the opportunity to pay the set fee for an additional carry-on, but declined.
Towards the end of the video, he can be heard saying he's willing to pay as a last-ditch effort to get on the flight, but it was too late.
"He waited all the way up until they closed the doors to be like, 'Okay, I’ll pay for it now,'" Natasha explained. "And then he tried to, like, bogart his way into the freaking, I don’t know what that’s called, before you get into the plane."

She added: "And they were like, 'Bro, back away. We gave you your chance and you didn’t pay for it.' And they ended up calling the cops on him. And he ended up getting escorted out so stop listening to the internet."
