Europe theme park dubbed 'better than Disneyland' with no queues

Bypass the hassle of DisneyLand for this European thrill ride

There's something else that you might want to add to your holiday to-do list this summer.

You might be planning to jet off somewhere across the world in the coming months, but there is an attraction nearer than you may think that might be worth while.

Some people may be looking for a quiet, tropical island getaway in 'hidden paradise' sort of way, but for those looking for a quick flight, some thrills and spills and well, more thrills - then this is the place for you.

There is an incredible theme park with almost no waiting time, raking in around five million visitors every year as it has been dubbed 'better than Disneyland' by some holiday goers.

That's about a third of the visitors that make their way to the ever-popular Disneyland Paris every year - though at this theme park, you can find some of the most thrilling and scariest roller-coasters in the continent for a fraction of the hassle of a trip to the former.

There are actually six 'worlds' to explore at the park too; Mediterranean, China, Mexico, Sésamo Aventura, the Wild West and Polynesia.

The themed zones offer rides, entertainment, shows and more for guests to enjoy for individuals and family alike, as the park is set to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year.

Located in Salou, Spain, the weather this time of year will be impeccable as well, with the number of positives starting to pile up.

The short queues and fun rides aren't all though, as the ticket prices are more than half of what they are at Disneyland.

It's called PortAventura Park, and the Spanish theme park seems to be a hit with everyone that chooses to visit.

The Red Force roller coaster is located near the entrance of the park and reaches eye-watering speeds of 180 km/h (112 mph), flinging riders up 112 metres into the air, not only being the fastest roller coast in the EU, but the tallest.

PortAventura stays open until midnight during the summer, allowed residents that want a cooler experience out of the scorching sun to enjoy what the park has to offer, with the final hour of each day dedicated to a fireworks display and parade, because why not?

Salou is a resort town in the breath-taking region of Tarragona in Spain, known for its lively bars and British residents - though fans of something quieter can visit the nearby La Pineda or Cambrils for a lowkey getaway and tranquility away from all the noise.

But with all these positives, a fraction of the visitors of Disneyland and a fraction of the waiting time to get on its most coveted rides, why not consider PortAventura if you were thinking of a trip to Disneyland?

Prices start from €50 (£43) for a two-day pass and €40 (£34) for a one day pass, while tickets at Disneyland start at £90 for a one-day pass to two parks.

The actual PortAventura too is actually part of PortAventura World, which includes the newly opened Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic Park, and a pass to visit all three over three days is just €86 (£74), still cheaper than Disneyland.

One Australian visitor stated on TripAdvisor: "For us, it was all about the rides, and we were not disappointed,

"The queue times were very acceptable - the maximum wait time that we experienced was about 30 minutes - and well worth it, it's better than Disneyland."

Another guest from County Durham posted: "This is much better than Disneyland Paris, the rides were super fun with short bearable queues (15-30 minutes).

"This park is well laid out and features many rides suited for all types of thrillseeker."

Do you need any other reason to go?
