They may be an 'unwritten rule' about sunbeds on holiday, but not everyone agrees with it.
You may be counting down the days, nay, hours, until your next holiday and with the UK set for its wettest summer in over 100 years, why wouldn't you?
If you're travelling from June onwards, it may be worth noting that the strict liquid restrictions are about to be lifted (thankfully), so feel free to pack more freely if you're flying from one of the selected airports.

But when you get to your coveted holiday destination this year, there are a lot of factors that you'll probably have to take into consideration, whether it be your mode of transport from your airport or what bar you want to go to first, there's something that might be more important than any of that.
Basking in the summer sun, wherever you may be, is at the top of the priority list - let's be honest.
That might be at the beach for some, but a popular and often easier choice is to go to your hotel's pool after your all-inclusive breakfast (if you ticked that box).

But remember, there is one rule to abide by, or not, depending on who you ask.
Those with who booked an Airbnb either won't have this option, or won't have to worry as they're not sharing a pool with anyone, so this might be a positive for them.
It all started when one user on Reddit shared a couple of snaps of their hotel pool, first thing in the morning.

They captioned the post: "Just this. Its 7 AM and everything is 'taken'."
The photos showed that all the sunbeds by the pool had been 'reserved', as people had woken up at the crack of dawn to head downstairs to chuck their towels on their preferred space by the pool.
One explained in the comments section: "In a lot of the Mediterranean hotels I've been to, the written rule is that you aren't allowed to reserve sunbeds.
"The unspoken rule however is, wake up at 6am, go down to the pool and reserve your sunbed by placing your towel on it. Then go back to bed and sleep for a couple more hours until breakfast.

"If you don't, you're SOL. Every hotel I've been to won't do a thing about it," they claimed.
They also said that Brits are too polite to take them off, but will disapprovingly tut at you if you choose to do it - a small price to pay, really.
However, a lot of people disagreed and were irked by this tactic, sharing their opinions in the comments section.

A different user said: "It’s funny, all I see are empty seats and free towels."
A third put: "Where I live they make you remove them after pool hours or the staff takes them to the lost and found."
Someone else suggested: "Just move a towel off the seats you want,
"People shouldn't expect anything else if they leave their stuff laying around in public."
Although, some people seemed to appreciate the tactic, thinking it was a smart way to go about things.
Another commented: "O wow, that's pretty awesome! I have to try IT one day."
A sixth agreed, saying: "I'll probably do that if im gonna need one, but still its annoying to see that every freaking morning."
