We're talking about the Spanish city of Murcia, which you might well not have heard of.
Hardly a Madrid or Barcelona and not having the reputation of the likes of other coastal locations such as Alicante, Marbella, Malaga, and Valencia, it is a stunning city that is worth your time and money.
Known as the 'Garden of Europe', Murcia has garnered this reputation due to many of the foods imported to supermarkets being grown here.

Located slightly inland, you can find Murcia between Alicante to the north and Certagena to the south, it's less than 40 minutes from the city centre to the coast where you can enjoy the region's stunning beaches.
There is also Cabo de Palos; a beautiful peninsula that pokes out into the sea, filled with places to explore including underwater with scuba diving.
It's also only 20 minutes from Murcia International Airport, meaning location wise it couldn't be closer.

There's plenty to do outside of sampling the local beer, too, with stunning cycling and kayaking routes around the brutal but idyllic Spanish landscape.
One of the best attractions is the Christ of Monteagudo, a huge statue of Jesus located on top of the Castle of Monteagudo. It's a must visit if you head to the area.
You can get flights to Murcia from the UK from a number of airports including Bournemouth, Glasgow, East Midlands, Birmingham, and London Luton.
