Being the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak is responsible for making financial decisions on behalf of the government and controlling public spending.
Given that Sunak has recently made his controversial Spring Statement to Parliament, UK residents are wondering what finances the politician himself has brought home in 2022.
The i reported that the Chancellor is thought to be 'the richest man in the House of Commons' due to his former career and marriage to Akshata Murty.
His wife is the daughter of one of India's most affluent entrepreneurs, Narayana Murthy, the founder of IT company Infosys.
What is Rishi Sunak's net worth?
As of 2022, Rishi Sunak has an estimated net worth of £200 million, according to The Sun.
Sunak has a base salary of £79,468 as an MP, which excludes his Chancellor's salary of £71,090.
The Sun, therefore, estimates that the Chancellor is worth more than ten times these salaries put together.
The publication reported that he is thought to own at least four properties, as well as his home residence, a five-bedroom home in Kensington which is thought to be worth around £7 million.
His website states, however, that he lives in Kirby Sigston, outside of Northallerton, North Yorkshire - though his website may not have been updated to reflect his current living circumstances.
Before becoming an MP, Sunak enjoyed 'a successful business career', co-founding a large investment firm where he worked with companies in the likes of Silicon Valley, California.
In 2018, Sunak was the Minister for Local Government and was appointed Chief Secretary to the Treasury one year later.
In February 2020, he was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer, which is his current role.
He is married to Murty and the pair share two daughters, Krishna and Anoushka, and states on his website that he enjoys cricket, football and movies in his spare time.
