Amazon Alexa is down.

Users have been hit with “something went wrong” error messages.

Customers of the voice assistant service were told that they encountered a problem, with an error light flashing up on the speakers.

Amazon does not have a service status page for Alexa, but many customers across the globe have spoken about the issues via Downdetector, which suggests the issue is extensive.

Nearly 800 people have reported the problems on the site since 7am, when the issue was estimated to have begun.

The users reported that Alexa is only responding to voice requests with, "Sorry, something went wrong."

One user wrote: "My whole house relies on Alexa for lighting, heating, security, doors etc - I'm sitting in a dark house in the cold and the door won't open."

Another user explained how Amazon Alexa helps to support them with day-to-day tasks that are otherwise difficult due to their "early onset dementia", noting how the company "still expect[s] to have authority to take money from my bank account".

Users have since, however, began to report that Amazon Alexa is back up and running, and Amazon have also confirmed this is the case.

LADbible contacted an Amazon spokesperson for a comment, to which they responded: “This morning we had an issue that impacted some Alexa customers’ ability to interact with the service. The Alexa service is now operating normally.”
