A British dad has had to have his leg amputated after a boating accident in Italy.
The air ambulance was reportedly brought out to the beach at Cannigione in Sardinia after the horrific incident, during which the man’s daughter ran over him with a boat after a mix-up.
The holidaying man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, but despite the doctors’ best efforts, his leg was too badly injured meaning that it had to be amputated, according to local media reports.

The family had been staying in the former fishing town in north-eastern Sardinia, taking part in a few of the activities popular with tourists to the area.
The accident reportedly occurred when the man’s daughter thought that the boat was in gear to travel forward, but it was in reverse.
That meant that the boat suddenly went backwards and impacted the man, who was in the water behind it.

He was then hit by the boat and immediately left with life-changing injuries.
He was then taken by the air ambulance helicopter to Sassari Hospital, where it was determined that the leg was too badly damaged and had to be partially amputated.
The man was also reportedly left in a state of shock following his horrific ordeal.
An investigation has now been started by the La Maddelena Coast Guard, according to Italian outlet Gallura Oggi.

It is located to the west of the Italian peninsula, as well as south of France and just beneath the French island of Corsica.
In May, a group of four people were killed after a boat carrying tourists capsized on Lake Maggiore, in the Lombardy region.
A whirlwind hit the boat suddenly, turning it over in the water and throwing more than 20 people – including tourists and crew – into the cold waters.

19 people, who the Italian fire service that attended said had been celebrating a birthday, managed to get to shore.
However, a 50-year-old Israeli man, an Italian man and a woman, as well as the skipper’s Russian wife, were found dead in the waters by people helping with the rescue, according to La Reppublica.
