Chonky cat has become the top-rated tourist attraction in Polish city

However, he's become so popular that authorities are begging fans to stop feeding him.

When you head to a different city for some sightseeing, you might open up one of the many tourist review sites that exist on the internet.

They can give you a really good guide on where all the hotspots are, which can include bridges, buildings, parks, restaurants, bars, clubs and loads more.

However, if you decide to do this when visiting Szczecin in Poland's north-west, you'll be greeted with a different type of attraction.

Gacek the cat has its own section on Google Maps and has a near-perfect five-star rating on the site.

One reviewer wrote: "Very fun! I’m going to bring the whole family next time!"

Another added: "Travelled across Europe by bike and made sure to have a stop to visit him. Excellent Boi, he chonky."

A third said: "As expected, he didn't pay any attention to me, which made the experience fully wholesome. If I could have a dinner with anyone in the world, I would fly again in an instant to feed him."

Business Insider says the cat has out-performed other attractions in the Polish city, some of which have stood for hundreds of years.

He originally had 2,600 reviews on a previous listing and more than 500 on another, however they both appear to have been taken down at the time of writing.

Gacek the cat (his name means long-eared bat in Polish) first gained notoriety when he featured in a 2020 documentary.

He's since been roaming the streets of Szczecin and a small makeshift home was built for him on Kaszubska Street, according to Kobieta Gazeta.

People are quick to spot him on the sidewalk and try to snap pictures of him or even give him a bit of food.

Fans have travelled from all over Poland and even neighbouring countries just to catch a glimpse of him.

But, cats being cats, it can be tough to pin him down.

One reviewer wrote: "This cat is a legend of Szczecin. Unfortunately, it was not possible to take a picture with him, but it was still great to see him."

However, some people have expressed concern for his weight, according to Polish site naszemiasto.

The Szczecin Society for the Care of Animals says you shouldn't feed him if you do manage to cross paths.

They wrote on Facebook: "Gack could use a small diet, because obesity in cats unfortunately contributes to many diseases and problems, so if we don't want Gacek to be a regular visitor to the hospital cage, let's take care of him - let him be fed only by the babysitter."

They added: "Because although we like him very much, we don't want him to visit us at the TOZ clinic more and more often."

So, if you're checking out Szczecin be sure to give him a pat.
