Following the long-awaited release of the second season Emmy-winning Netflix series 'Monster', renamed to 'Monsters', everyone is wondering where the real Menendez brothers are now.
The successful first season of the TV series focused on the life of twisted serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, who killed and dismembered 17 men over a 13-year span, before being sentenced to 16 life sentences and eventually being beaten to death by an inmate in 1994.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, focuses on the brothers in question and their lives, which led to the pair brutally murdering their parents with shotguns on 20 August, 1989.

Both were given life sentences for their crimes in 1996 after their father, José Menendez and mother, Kitty Menendez, were shot multiple times using 12-gauge shotguns in their Beverly Hills home.
They told the police that they were watching Batman at the cinema and came back to find them both dead, though after authorities investigated mob members and other suspects, they focused their efforts on the brothers.

After first being arrested in 1990, they were given two consecutive life sentences six years later, though they claimed during the trial that they killed them out of fear and self-defence after physical, emotional and sexual abuse over the years.
Family members also supported their claims in court, testifying that Erik and Lyle had shared stories of abuse before the murders were carried out, however prosecutors firmly believed that they killed their parents to inherit their wealth, as they spent lavishly after the murders.
So, almost 30 years after their sentencing, where are they now?

Lyle Menendez was sent to Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, California, while Erik was put in the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.
However, after 22 years apart, the brothers were reunited in February 2018 as Lyle was moved to Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility.
Both have tried to appeal their convictions on several occasions, though the petitions were rejected.
The pair reportedly spent $700,000 (£528,000) on luxury cars, clothes and watches, while travelling overseas to visit a couple of holiday destinations.

After agreeing to go to therapy, both confessed on tape to killing their parents, and in court, Lyle gave graphic descriptions of what happened and revealed that he confronted his father about molesting him as a child just days before the killings happened, which brought an angry reaction from José that he took as a death threat.
The seven-year case was highly publicised, and caused waves when a Netflix series on the case was announced.
Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny play José and Kitty Menendez, while Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Cooper Koch will star as brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez.
