Warning: This article contains discussion of suicide which some readers may find distressing.

Horrific footage of a Wall Street trader appearing to 'poison himself' after hearing his verdict during a court case has resurfaced, 13 years later.

Michael Marin was a Wall Street trader who lived the high life, being the proud owner of a Rolls-Royce, some Picasso sketches, and even his own plane.

The American stockbroker lived a life and a half, even managing to scale Mount Everest in his pursuit to reach the summit of the highest peaks in six continents.

Though soon his life would come crashing down.

Marin, who had made millions for himself and travelled Asia in his free time, was arrested after being charged with arson and insurance fraud.

Marin was apprehended for setting fire to a building he'd bought, worth $3.5 million (£2.7million) in 2011.

The Mirror reported that while Marin looked to be loving life, it turned out that he was struggling with financial hardships, falling into debt after buying the lavish home.

Court hearings began on 21 May 2012, and he faced anywhere between seven and 21 years behind bars if found guilty.

On 28 June that year, Marin was found guilty of the crime in an attempt to claim the insurance money, as authorities on the scene determined that the fire started from four different flames lit in different corners of the room.

But the verdict would lead to an incredibly chilling moment captured on tape.

As he was told that he would be taken into custody immediately, the stockbroker died via suicide in court.

Live on camera, the then-53-year-old took matters into his own hands after discovering he was sentenced to 21 years in prison, 'ingesting poison' and collapsing in front of the court.

While it looked like he was just covering his mouth while yawning, it turned out he was slipping something into his mouth, which would end his life.

Soon after, Marin could be seen dropping to the floor and convulsing as people tried to help and figure out what was happening.

Marin was declared dead in hospital soon after, as an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as suicide by cyanide.

Investigators found the substance in his car, as a spokesperson at the time stated: "We assume that Marin made capsules out of this toxic substance before coming to court."

It was claimed that Marin bought the chemical recently, though the final nail in the coffin was when an email was found from Marin to his son.

In the email, it detailed that if things didn't go to plan in the trial, his wills were sorted and that his car could be found at a certain location.
