Modern cruise ships are pretty spectacular and can contain everything from state-of-the-art tech to even rollercoasters.
But how about a ship shaped like a giant reptile?
Well, Saudi Arabia is planning to push the boundaries of modern engineering even further by building a turtle-shaped cruise ship for $8 billion.

Check it out here:
Yes, you read that right - a giant, floating turtle ship will soon be a reality.
The cruise ship, which is actually a floating city called Pangeos, is about to be built, which will be home to a whopping 60,000 people.

As you can imagine, this means that it will need all kinds of amenities, and the ship, which is being designed by Italian studio Lazzarini, will contain apartments, a shopping mall, and a rooftop garden.
The ship will unsurprisingly be absolutely massive, set to be 610 metres wide and 550 metres long.
That's one big turtle.
The floating city will also have 64 apartments, which will be located in the feet and various places around its body - such villas in its wings. Plus, there will be additional room for hotels so that tourists can enjoy the spectacle too.

We're getting excited just thinking about visiting this place, let alone imagining what it would be like to say that you live on a giant, floating turtle.
With all the extra room, the ship will naturally have space for helicopters and other flying vehicles to land.
There will also be room for other ships to dock.

By now you're probably wondering how a structure like that could float, and it's all to do so with 30,000 floating cells, as well as a steel basement.
Because the city is still a ship, it will be able to move too, albeit very slowly, and has a speed of five knots - that's just over five miles an hour.
However, if you now suddenly have plans to go and live in the floating turtle, then we're sorry to say that there might be a few obstacles in the way.
Firstly, you'd have to be prepared to leave your current life behind as the ship is going to be primarily based in Saudi Arabia - that, and it's not like it can travel far at 5.75mph.

And secondly, construction is only expected to begin this year, with it being estimated that it will take around eight years to complete.
But it is worth noting that you can already put down a deposit on an apartment in the turtle.
This can be done in the Metaverse because, of course it can. And the choice is quite varied, ranging from VIP apartments, houses, villas, to super villas, whatever that is.
The Pangeos website states: "We believe a virtual space is the first step into a real development of the project.
"For this reason an Unreal Engine Metaverse is now under construction."
So, in a nutshell, if you buy an NFT property, and it will allow you to be a part of the Pangeos Metaverse today, and then on board the physical ship once it's built.
What a time to be alive.
