A bloke who travelled more than 120 miles with his kids to check out Binley Mega Chippy was left disappointed to find it wasn’t even open. Ouch.
Simon Harris, from Essex, wanted to check out what all the fuss was about over the viral chippy so travelled to Coventry with his kids his Luke, seven, Emma, five, James, four, and baby Thomas.
But the family were out of luck after making the 125 mile journey, as the chippy was shut.

Simon said: “The kids were more excited than I was to go to the chippy. Luke and Emma love watching TikTok videos.
“I save a lot of videos for them to watch.
"There was one point where you couldn’t move for Binley Mega Chippy videos with that catchy tune. They were all singing the song.

“I was quite weary about the cars and car meets there, I’ve seen videos on TikTok of people doing burnouts and I wanted to get there early in the day before it closed.”
Simon and his family headed to Binley Mega Chippy on Sunday, after checking online and seeing that it was supposed to be open.
But says once they were there, they saw a sign saying it wasn’t open on Sundays after all - fortunately Simon and his kids weren’t too put out by the situation and managed to still have a good day.
“To be fair I was just glad we were there. I was glad the kids took it so well, it was great to be there and get a couple of pics of it,” he added.

“The owner came out and thanked us for the support and was in disbelief over the popularity the place has got.
“It was a little bit disappointing. We ended up walking around there and having giant pizzas so it wasn’t a wasted journey.”
Despite not getting the chance to try the food at Binley Mega Chippy, Simon, who runs the Man Behaving Dadly blog, hasn't ruled out visiting any other eateries that may go viral.

He said: "If something else goes viral I would travel, but I would not be so trustworthy of Google. In future I may ring ahead just to make sure.
“Since going, our local fish and chip shop in Hockley they’ve just started making TikTok video’s as well and they’ve just invited us down. It's only down the road.”
