A cancer dietitian has warned that you need cross two popular items off of your shopping list if you want to lower your risk of suffering from the disease.
Spoiler alert - the products are probably the two things you put into your basket that help you get through the week, so you're probably not going to be best pleased with the advice Nichole Andrews had to offer.
The registered dietitian nutritionist, based in the US, specialises in oncology nutrition and helps cancer survivors work on rebuilding their health, improving their diet and redefining their lifestyle throughout their recovery.

As we all know, food is the best medicine - but some stuff could be poisoning us from the inside out, according to Nichole.
But she reassured people that even though she is delivering a stark warning reminiscent of one we've heard many times before, you shouldn't believe that everything in your fridge 'increases your cancer risk', as she insists it 'doesn't'.
However, Nichole then quickly became the bearer of bad news as she revealed that alcohol consumption is a leading cause of cancer while explaining that it will 'increase your risk of six different' kinds of it.
In an Instagram video detailing what should and shouldn't be thrown in your shopping trolley, the American warned that any type of alcohol, including red wine, can heighten your risk of the disease.

Nichole explained: "Alcohol consumption isn’t just a buzz-kill for your liver health; it also heightens the risk of breast, mouth, throat, oesophageal, and colon cancers.
"The science behind it is eye-opening. Alcohol metabolises into acetaldehyde, a known carcinogen, which can wreak havoc on our DNA, raising cancer risk."
Oh, and you know those lovely array of meats you chow down on while having a few glasses of vino?

Those are apparently out too, as Nichole told her followers that processed meats can 'increase the risk of colorectal cancer'.
The dietitian continued: "Processed meats, including ham, salami, bacon and sausages such as frankfurters and chorizo - they’re linked to an increased risk of colorectal cancer.
"Processed meats contain compounds like nitrites and N-nitroso compounds, which raise the cancer risk. And what about those sizzling hotdogs and crispy bacon?

"The high heat involved in processing meats can produce carcinogenic compounds like polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic amines, further upping the cancer risk," Nichole said.
"Red meats contain heme iron, which, when metabolised, may generate harmful compounds that could damage the colon."
She urged people to reassess what they are fuelling their bodies with, reminding them that the healthy option - natural and unprocessed - is always the best one.
However, the dietitian isn't a complete and utter killjoy and informed people that there are still plenty of fun foods they can eat which 'will not increase their cancer risk'.
Nichole added: "I want to be very clear that there’s no direct link between each sugar and causing cancer.

"It's important to focus your goals more on how you can become more curious and aware of what’s in your foods - what are the nutritional values, how do you feel after eating certain meals, and how to create plates that not only taste good but also support your usual lifestyle and a Cancer Prevention lifestyle that has been supported through human data."
