A woman who lost four limbs after a kidney stone became infected has issued a huge update on her progress.

Lucinda Mullins, also known as Cindy by her friends, found herself in a nightmare situation after being told that her routine surgery would lead to her losing four limbs due to septic shock.

Doctors had to amputate both of her legs and told her she would also lose both of her arms below her elbows due to sepsis, which Cindy told LEX 18 at the time was the ‘cards I’ve been dealt and these are the hands I'm going to play’.

Adding that she was 'just so happy to be alive', she continued to say: "I get to see my kids. I get to see my family. I get to have my time with my husband. Those are minor things at this point."

After the operation, her sister, Luci Smith, thanked people for their 'support, love, prayers, cards, food and visits'.

She said: “We would like to thank everyone again for all of the support, love, prayers, cards, food and visits (her favourite) You guys are amazing.

"In the next few days we will move to Cardinal Hill for a couple weeks and then come back for hopefully her final surgery.

“Each day is a blessing from God and we will continue to praise him for the miracles he has performed. Today she got to leave the room and we ventured outside for some fresh crisp air. Keep praying and she'll keep fighting until we are finally home.”

But she is now making remarkable progress.

On Cindy’s GoFundMe page, set up by a friend called Heather Beshears, a remarkable update has been given to all of the donators who've helped Cindy reach $328,550 of their $350,000 target.

Mullins' husband, DJ, updated on 8 March that his wife was beginning intensive therapy so that she could begin to learn how to walk with prosthetics.

He wrote: “As if she wasn’t strong enough, she’s about to get stronger.

“We just checked in to Cardinal Hill for a couple weeks of intense therapy to prepare her for the prosthetic journey she is about to begin.”

Now, the latest update on 19 April shows pictures of Cindy walking in her prosthetic legs.

Beshears also wrote on behalf of DJ: “Happy tears are definitely flowing.

“She has been so ready to get this chapter started.

“No looking back for this chick!!!”

It looks like Cindy is going from strength to strength and can only progress father from here on out.
