You'll know Jaws will change anyone's opinion about how safe it is to head into the ocean. Hell, not many people have come close to a shark encounter and lived to tell the tale - but there are always the few exceptions.
Isabelle Fabre was one of those people who almost became shark bait after she crossed paths with a great white shark. ViralHog posted footage from a drone of the travel blogger kitesurfing off the West Australian coast, but she found herself in a situation that not many people are familiar with or would want to experience.
When you're kitesurfing, it's not like you're going to be able to hop off your board and take a look at what's in the water. Fabre spotted a shadow under her board, thinking it was either her kite's shadow or maybe a dolphin. To be fair, she probably wished it was a dolphin after she learned what it was.
"So, I went to the water while Cyril was shooting with the drone, but quickly I have started to see a big black shadow underwater," she said. "As usual, I was first thinking that it was my kite shadow, but no... Then I thought it was a dolphin trick.
"You know, when they spring out just in front of you! But no... It was circling around me. When it passed beneath me, I realised it was a HUGE great white shark! I have immediately turned around, but the wind was really light.
"I was struggling to get my ass out of the water and I thought, 'I am done.' I heard Cyril shouting, 'Shark! Isabelle, get out!' He saw everything through the drone and he thought I was done, too."
You can only imagine how terrifying it must have been in the moment. We're not talking about some small little fish circling the board. This thing is like Bruce from Finding Nemo, but take away the cheeky smile and the fish-friendly attitude -- so it's a hungry shark, basically.
Tell you what, though, Isabelle has had a unique experience that is no doubt a conversation starter with anyone she meets. If you're going out on the waters, then you better not let curiosity get the better of you and take a moment to think what's lurking underneath you.
The chances are that it's probably going to be something that wants to eat you for dinner. If you don't want to take our word for it, then take Isabelle's.
