BMW Savagely Reminds Their Drivers To Use Their Blinkers More Often

BMW drivers famously love to change lanes, indicator be damned. Well, now the German carmaker is calling them out.

BMW drivers have earned an unfortunate generalisation amongst other road users for loving a cheeky lane change without warning.

Your dad has definitely made a joke about it while driving on the motorway, scoffing as someone in a fancy car weaves in and out of traffic without indicating.

Maybe they think it keeps us on our toes or something.

Well, the carmaker has come out against these drivers who give the brand a bad name.

Use your blinkers.

The North American BMW Twitter account ripped on their own customers in a tweet made up of three simple words: "Use your blinkers."

The cheeky little own-goal has gone bananas on social media, with more than 14,500 likes and multiple people piling on the chance to give BMW drivers a good rinse.

One Twitter user responded with: "I tried."

His tweet was paired with a floppy, broken indicator rod. Yikes. Still not a good enough excuse to not indicate though, because that's an easy fix by any mechanic.

A second user added: "This is like Willie Nelson telling people not to smoke weed."

A third person chipped in with their own cheeky little joke: "We don’t need those, we drive BMWs.”

Some did wonder if the tweet was even real, with one person asking if the account had been hacked.

Car news site Motor1 did a bit of sleuthing to check if the tweet was legit.

They also asked if we'd be seeing more tongue-in-cheek tweets that rinse their own customers in the future.

"The answer to both of those questions is yes, so take heart BMW fans and exercise those turn signals," Motor1 wrote.

Jokes aside, BMW drivers do have a pretty rotten reputation on the road.

In 2021 a study revealed that BMW drivers are the 'the worst' on the roads.

The survey, carried out by vehicle finance firm, Moneybarn, found that Beamer owners really aren't very popular with other motorists.

and ruin my reputation of being an asshole? yea no

The firm asked 4,000 people who they thought were the 'worst drivers on the road'.

And almost 40 per cent of respondents said they had a big problem with BMW drivers.

And it all came down to them not using their blinkers.

Colour us shocked.

The report said: "It's clear that BMW drivers have built up quite the reputation for them, hence the joke that BMW's don't come with indicators.

"And to hammer home how the rest of the public seems to think about them, a quick internet search for the term 'why are BMW drivers...' sees Google suggest results such as 'so hated', 'so arrogant' and 'idiots'.
