Man puts up brutal sign on his £500k new-build home to warn off prospective buyers

Man puts up brutal sign on his £500k new-build home to warn off prospective buyers

This is savage...

A man in Derbyshire is certainly the talk of the town as he has plastered a huge sign above his garage over a row with his home's developer, and quite frankly, it is brutal.

I think all of us have gone to extreme lengths to try and make a point, especially when we are not being heard.

But Balbinder Singh has topped this with a savage way to try and get his point across and warn off prospective buyers in the process.

Singh moved into his new home in Mickleover, Derbyshire, back in April 2021.

But in the years since, a row has erupted between him and developer Avant Homes, who built his new-build.

Nearly two years after he moved, Singh claims a lot of problems still remain with the house which are yet to be fixed.

But Avant Homes says the issues have been caused by him having an extension built that impacted his warranty.

Singh claims that now two years in, Avant Homes is now ignoring him, and he's now gone to desperate measures to try and put pressure on the developer.

On his house on the Cotchett Village estate, Singh has put up a sign that reads: "Avant Homes our review. We moved in 1st April 2021 and work is still uncompleted.

"Avant is no longer responding to us. There is lots of uncompleted work. We are happy to share pictures. Don't make the mistake we made."

Well, that's one way to get your point across.

Avant Homes told Derbyshire Live that it had been in discussions with Singh, but says a number of issues were caused by him due to the construction of an extension.

Meanwhile, Singh had a completely different story: "They're ignoring us and they're not bothered. We're fed up. How can they leave it like this?

"They agree with me when I speak to them and then nobody comes. Someone has to come forward."

The modern property boasts a pent-roof porch over the front door, but Singh claims its design leads water to run off down the wall by the side of the door, which leads to damp and moss growth.

Singh also adds that the bi-fold doors need their glass replaced, the internal doors need painting, an upstairs toilet seat is damaged, plus an extractor fan also has damaged lighting.

Other residents on the street have claimed they have had problems with Avant Homes, with the developer saying it's working with 'a very small number' of residents on Cotchett Village.

The developer says it's working on other properties in the area.

However, another resident on the street says they have had a positive experience with the developer.

An Avant Homes spokesperson said: “We have been in ongoing dialogue with the occupant (Singh) regarding his property.

"Having fully investigated the occupant’s concerns regarding his home, we believe a significant number of them were caused by the building of an extension on the property after the house was purchased.

"We have inspected the house and communicated back to the occupant what is acceptable for us to resolve in relation to his concerns outside of those created by the extension.

"Our customer liaison team is proactively dealing with a very small number of residents at the development who have raised concerns to ensure any reasonable requests are addressed."
