A man’s tear-jerking videos showing him generously giving homeless people wads of cash have repeatedly gone viral on TikTok, but people remain divided on his motives. Watch a clip below:
Peter Bond regularly takes to TikTok to share clips of himself surprising homeless people with wads of cash before swiftly walking away, leaving the recipients to process what just happened.
Bond has amassed over 375,000 followers on TikTok, with his videos regularly hitting 1 million views.
The TikToker, who calls himself ‘Mr $1 Bill’, supposedly uses his platform to give back to people he encounters sleeping rough.
One video sees Bond handing a homeless man cash disguised as a meal, with the recipient’s shocked reaction caught on camera for his followers to see.
The video begins with Bond asking the homeless person: “What’s up, man? Are you hungry? I got you something to eat.”
He hands over a tray of food that is, in fact, filled with $300 (£220) in $1 bills.
He captioned the video: “You can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
Many people regularly flood his comments with positive messages, such as: “Absolutely awesome, good man, Merry Christmas.”
“These are the best videos by far on TikTok, well done,” another person commented.
A third wrote: “May God bless you, protect you, make you happy, and make your heart happy with ur love you are man Ok.”
However, while some applaud him for his charitable work, others take issue with the fact these videos are recorded and filmed for his TikTok, and that he simply walks away without talking to the people he is supposedly helping.
One said: “Kind of hurts that you didn’t talk to him.”
Another commented: “Why you filming them?”
A third said: “Bro doing it for the vid smh.”
What’s more, some people believe these videos are set up by Bond himself, as many pointed out the fact the homeless man can be seen with seemingly expensive clothes and Nike Air Jordan sneakers on.
One user commented: “Looks set up a bit.”
Another said: “So a homeless man has Jordans?”
Responding to claims that the videos were staged, Peter Bond told LADbible: "I don’t respond to the negative comments cause I don’t owe those viewers an explanation. The trolls will always have something to say.
"Homeless people come in different conditions. Many of them live in shelters to which they receive clean clothes while still being on the street. Being homeless doesn’t mean you have to look dirty.
"I’m filming these videos to inspire others to do the same and help others.
"I’ve spoken to some homeless people about filming good deeds & what they tell me is they don’t care, as long as they’re not being ignored cause that’s the 'embarrassing' part.
"I will continue to help, & film my interactions to inspire others & bring awareness to the everyday people that everyone else seems to ‘ignore’."
