McDonald’s announces brand new list of prizes to be won including £3,500 holiday this month

January might be a difficult time of year but the prospect of a prize from McDonald's might be enough to cheer up the New Year blues.

So if you fancy treating yourself to some fries from McDonald's, then buying them through the app will give you some points.

And as Bruce Forsyth might say, what do points make?

Points make prizes.

In this case, the prizes include things all the way up to a £3,500 holiday or £1,500 in spending money which will be given away in a draw.

But the points are also very important - as if you get enough of them then you can put them towards menu items from the outlet.

Starting small, if you accumulate 1,500 points, this is enough for things like a free small fries, hash browns, a regular cold soft drink, or a side salad.

And if you get to 2,500 points, things heat up and you can claim a double cheeseburger, apple pie, or Vegetable Deluxe burger.

But it's once you get to 4,000 points that the big guns start to come out.

You could win a £3,500 holiday - if you are lucky.

At this level, you get the favourites like six chicken nuggets, a Big Mac, or Filet-O-Fish.

Finally, when you reach the dizzying heights of 5,500 points, you can treat yourself to a Mighty McMuffin, McSpicy, Double Quarter Pounder with cheese, or a McCrispy.

Or if you're feeling generous, then you can choose to donate the cash equivalent of your points to a charity.

The charities available include BBC Children in Need, FareShare, and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

To claim the points, you need to be a member of MyMcDonald's Rewards, and can only begin earning the rewards by downloading on the Apple App Store or Google Play.

And once you're on the rewards programme, if you want to be entered into the draw for the big prizes, then you have to buy either a medium or large fries four times through January.

Shouldn't be a hard task right?

The rewards are not the only thing to be coming to McDonald's this month - with five 'all-time favourites' also making a return from January 4.

These include the Steakhouse Stack (£5.49), Fajita Chicken Wrap (£3.69), Cheesey Garlic Bites (£2.59), and the Cadbury Dairy Milk and Cadbury Caramel McFlurries (both £1.99).

However, a new menu also means saying goodbye to some of our favourites - namely the Big and Cheesy and the Chicken Big Mac.

It's always bittersweet.
