Elon Musk set social media alight on Monday night (2 May) as he walked the Met Gala red carpet arm-in-arm with his supermodel mum, Maye Musk. Watch them take to the red carpet below:
The entrepreneur, 50, looked dapper in a classic black tailcoat tuxedo for the ‘Gilded Glamour and White Tie’-themed night.

However, it was his 74-year-old mother who turned heads in a crimson velvet Dior gown and layered Chopard jewellery.
In light of their glamorous mother-son night out, people took to social media in their droves to brand the pair 'classy as ever' and claimed Maye was the 'best-dressed'.
One penned on Twitter: “I love how @mayemusk is supporting her son @elonmusk Thank you for taking him to the Met, he sure needs to have some fun these days."

A third declared online: “Maye Musk for best dressed at the Met”.
“@elonmusk and his mom @mayemusk at Met Gala 2022. You are looking amazing,” another wrote.
A Twitter user added: “The only interesting people at the Met Gala were in fact @elonmusk and his Mom @mayemusk beautiful lady!”

“This is the best choice of the partner for the Met Gala ever made by Elon,” another insisted.
Another concluded: “It’s so lovely that Elon took his Mom to the Met Gala. What a wonderful son of a very special Mom!”
However, this isn't the first time the pair attended the gala together. Maye and Elon attended 2016’s event, when the theme was Manus x Machina.

Maye is no stranger to fashion; she is in fact a former Miss South Africa and has been an in-demand model since she was 15.
In 2010, she posed nude on the cover of a health issue of Time magazine, and in 2011 she posed as an ageing pregnant woman on the cover of New York. She is also the face of cosmetics company CoverGirl.
Aside from her modelling career, she is a revered nutritionist and has written three books.

Elsewhere, Elon, who made his carpet appearance a week after agreeing a deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion, shared his goals for the platform on the Vogue Met Gala 2022 Livestream
Speaking to host Lala Anthony, Musk said: "My goal, assuming everything gets done, is to make Twitter as inclusive as possible and to have as broad a swathe of people on Twitter as possible.
“And that it is entertaining and funny and they have as much fun as possible.”
Elon's offer to take over Twitter was announced on 25 April.
