Eamonn Holmes has claimed that Holly Willoughby 'should follow Phil out the door' after the TV presenter's exit from This Morning.

It's no secret that Holmes, himself a former presenter on This Morning, has been a vocal critic of Phillip Schofield and Willoughby during the series of events which caused the former to leave the show.

He recently claimed that they should win some sort of award 'for best actors', claiming that he could see it was 'a broken fit between the two of them' as they tried to present the show together.

When Schofield claimed he'd stepped down from This Morning, Holmes instead insisted that he'd been sacked and hit out at the presenter for 'lying' to him and his wife Ruth Langsford.

He said they'd been 'taken for fools' after Schofield admitted having an affair with a much younger colleague. Holmes declared: "One day I will tell the story."

Then there was the time he remembered Schofield had 'really rudely' interrupted Langsford, while the now GB News presenter also claimed that he was 'not the only guilty party' after the revelation of a relationship which was described as 'unwise but not illegal'.

Now he's given another interview on the matter where he's said Holly Willoughby should also leave This Morning, claiming she was 'distant' from the crew on the show and didn't know their names.

Holmes accused Willoughby of making sure she was 'distancing herself' from the sinking ship that was Schofield.

He said: "Not only should Phillip go, but Holly should follow him out the door.

"I don’t think you’ll ever see Holly back on the couch again. Holly doesn’t know people’s names, either. This is legendary within the production teams, that how distant they are and how they just don’t care.

"There are people who say for her it's not about what Phillip did, it's not about protecting the young fella involved.

"There are financial experts who would say it’s about brand protection with her, her company, and advertising deals which looks like she’s distancing herself from to protect herself."

Eamonn Holmes was formerly a presenter on This Morning at the same time as Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

ITV said they investigated 'rumours of a relationship' concerning Schofield and the younger This Morning employee in 2020 and found they both 'repeatedly denied' having an affair.

They've said they were 'deeply disappointed by the admissions of deceit' following Schofield's admittance that he had been having an affair after all.

While Schofield had initially said he'd be stepping down from This Morning but continuing to work with ITV on other shows including The British Soap Awards, he will now 'not be appearing on ITV'.

Holly Willoughby said she'd directly asked Schofield about the rumours of his relationship and been told by him that it was not true, saying it had been 'very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie'.

LADbible has contacted Holly Willoughby's representatives for a comment.
