Pizza Hut Australia is celebrating 60 years of Hawaiian pizza by giving away free pizzas during the month of August.
Let’s face it; Hawaiian pizza is truly one of the most divine culinary creations to date.
Salty yet sweet, delicious and yet never overpowering. Ham and pineapple are one of the most unique pairings we never thought we needed in our life.

Not to mention as the months get colder, there’s nothing better than indulging in a Hawaiian pizza to make you feel as though you escaped the frost, instantly transporting you to a tropical island, soaking up those sun rays and oceanic waters.
However, pineapple on pizza did not originate from Italy, but in Canada of all places.
In 1962, Greek immigrant Sam Panopoulos who owned a restaurant with his brothers in Ontario, decided to provide their own little spin on the beloved food staple by introducing the unexpected pizza topping.

Initially, Panopoulos and his brothers created Italian food inspired by a recent trip to Naples. But one day, when he was in a particularly daring mood, Panopoulos decided to put canned pineapples paired with ham on his pizza.
The exotic pizza toppings proved to be an instant success, and the rest is history.
As International Hawaiian Pizza Day is fastly approaching, instead of just having a birthday, it's having a birth month. Pizza Hut is giving away 1k free pizzas every single day in August, with this rocketing to 5k on the 20th to properly mark the occasion.
