A gender reveal party has become a tragedy after a plane involved in the celebrations crashed.
A video has circulated on social media showing a couple in Mexico standing in front of a huge sign that was decorated with gold, blue and pink balloons.
The expectant parents watched as a small aircraft flew overhead and released a huge plume of what appeared to be pink water, signalling they were having a girl.

However, just seconds later, the Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee aircraft nosedived as there was an issue with one of the wings.
The gender reveal party guests continued to celebrate the happy news, seemingly unaware the aircraft had just been in a death spiral and crashed.
It wasn't until a concerned partygoer called emergency services that they were able to respond to the incident, according to The New York Post.

Photos uploaded to social media show the plane wrecked beyond repair.
Mexican news outlet Línea Directa Portal has revealed the pilot has been named as 32-year-old Luis Ángel.
He was rushed to the Mexican Social Security Institute after the crash however he sadly died.
Metro reports the plane had to bank suddenly after flying over the party to avoid running into nearby palm trees.

The Aviation Safety Network said the the Piper PA-25-235 Pawnee crashed after the the 'left-hand wing failed after an emergency hopper release of (pink dyed) water during a gender reveal party'.
It has reignited the debate around the lengths people go to celebrate the sex of their child.
One person wrote on Twitter: "Gender reveal parties are cursed."

Another added: "These gender reveal parties are getting out of hand when people die annually because of them."
This isn't the first time a plane has crashed during a party like this in Mexico.
Two years ago, two people were killed in the Nichupté lagoon in Cancun during a gender reveal party.
A plane flew over a beach as it emitted pink smoke and people on the land cheered for the soon-to-be-born girl.

However, the plane then quickly crashed into the water.
The attorney general's office in Quintana Roo One explained to ABC News that one person died during the crash and a second person died after being rescued.
