A flight passenger was shocked to see someone sat in front of them confessing via text message that they were Covid-positive.

Reddit user @u/tristydotj shared the snap from a recent plane journey, showing the alarming iMessage conversation the passenger sat in front of them was having.

As shown in the image below, the person was responding to someone called 'James'.

They wrote: "We have COVID… shhh. That’s why we’re returning home a day early, on the plane now."

The user sharing the post captioned it: "Is this even legal?"

Some Redditors were, of course, outraged, whilst others suggested that the photographer was being 'nosy' and should mind their own business.

One person wrote: "Plot twist: she only typed that because she knows the a**hole behind her is reading her messages."

"Going to have this on my phone next time I fly for the peekers lol," another commented.

"I miss the days when people would mind their own business," a third wrote.

Someone else wrote: "F**k people who KNOW they have Covid that don't take precautions to keep other people safe from it.”

Another added: "Expose her to the flight attendant. See something, say something."

A final user suggested was the least surprised by the situation and commented: “It happens all the time. People don't want to miss their flight, delay their trips home, go on vacations, etc. Just assume everyone has it and act accordingly."

Last month, a woman was forced to isolate for five hours in a plane’s tiny on-board bathroom after testing positive for Covid-19 mid-flight.

Marisa Foteio (@marisaefotieo) had been travelling from the US to Iceland a few days before Christmas, having taken a number of tests before departing to find that they were negative.

However, after feeling a bit of a ‘sore throat’ while travelling to Reykjavik, she decided to take a rapid test - which, much to her horror, had a positive result.

The Michigan schoolteacher opted to voluntarily self-isolate in the compact bathroom, posting a video on TikTok to share her ordeal.

"Shout out to @Icelandair for my VIP quarantine quarters," she joked.

In a comment, Foteio added: “I received two negative PCRs. Got on the flight. Travelled for Christmas. Decided to bring at home tests for my travels. Felt sore throat and tested +."

When someone asked if she could have tested false positive, she said: "I thought possibly, but they tested me on my layover and PCR was positive. I never made it to my destination. Quarantined in Iceland now."
