Kamala Harris shared the chilling ‘intelligence’ reason why she sticks to using just wired headphones.
No Bluetooth round here for the former Vice President, she’d rather deal with the untangling of wires as she listens to her favourite bops.
Harris’ commitment to using wired earphones has become a bit of a meme over the years, but it seems she’s got a very good reason for it – not just because it’s a certified Gen Z ‘cool girl’ trait.
The politician appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday (31 July) as she promotes her new book, 107 Days, about her time running for US president.

He showed a snap included in it, showing Harris sat alone at a table in a hoodie with her wired headphones.
The 60-year-old explained the unseen photo is from the day she was called by Joe Biden, revealing he had withdrawn from the presidential race.
Even in such a vital moment, those wired headphones were firmly plugged into her phone.
“I know I’ve been teased about this, but I like this kind of earpods that have the thing [the wire],” Harris said.

She went on to explain: “Because I’ve served on the Senate Intelligence Committee, I have been in classified briefings and I’m telling you, don’t be on the train using your earpods and thinking somebody can’t listen to your conversation.”
Ok, creepy.
“I’m just telling you that’s a little bit more secure,” the former attorney general of California added.
Harris might have been laughing away while she was explaining this, but Colbert at least seemed silenced by the explanation.
The wired earphones really aren’t something new for her, if you think back to the famous meme-d ‘We did it, Joe!’ video, she’s holding the tangle of them in her hands. Even on video call interviews, she can be seen plugged in with her wires.

Former aides have previously said Harris has long been careful about security and technology, with Politico once saying she’s ‘Bluetooth-phobic’ as an unnamed source said she’s ‘a bit paranoid.’
Cybersecurity researcher and writer Kim Crawley added to the Guardian: “If Kamala Harris is using wired earbuds, then the communications going between her phone and her ears can’t be intercepted there.
“I would presume that Ms Harris is privy to a lot of top secret and classified information and that top secret and classified information could be going through her phone, so no I don’t think that’s overly paranoid.”
Well, guess Harris is a bit of a ‘cool girl’ as well as tech-savvy.
