A radio station in Vancouver has shocked its listeners by playing 'Killing in the Name' on loop for nearly 24 hours.
It appears that a member of staff from the 104.9 FM station had undergone an Andy Dufresne-inspired moment from Shawshank Redemption and decided to sit back and slap a record on without giving a flying fluff.
According to reports, the musical protest is in response to a number of staff being let go from the station, though others have suggested it's intended to mark a shift in the station's output.

It's unclear how long the Rage Against The Machine song was on loop for, but many have taken to Twitter and have claimed that the song, which apparently started at 6.30am, was still playing in the evening, according to the Vancouver Sun.
I mean, that's a considerable amount of time to be playing such a heavy song.
According to Genius, the Rage Against The Machine song is about police brutality.

They say: "Speaking ironically from the killers' perspectives, De La Rocha claims murder is justified by wearing a police badge, insinuating that police brutality is no different from any other type of violence.
"The third line adds racism to the equation. Linking back to the verse, the police force is accused of employing too many racist officers that abuse the badge for their racist ideology."
Many were praising the antics on social media.
One user wrote: "@RATM @tmorello a pop radio station in Vancouver laid off all of their staff yesterday.

Another tweeted: "3:05 west coast still going strong. I hope it never ends!"
A third commented: "Still going on- 8:10 PM, listening in Detroit."

Someone else added: "Still playing at 10pm central time, have listened about 5 times... This is awesome."
Another said: "Someone has to get @tmorello to call in to this station or something, this is still going and it’s amazing."
The unique stunt was reportedly in response to a number of employees being let go. It also marked the departure of popular morning hosts Kevin Lim and Sonia Sidhu who had been there for five years, though their departure was reportedly nothing to with the stunt.
“KiSS is changing and, unfortunately, we were informed that we won’t be part of this new chapter,” said Lim and Sidhu.

Another employee, who was let go, wrote: "A special announcement! I’ve officially enjoyed my last show on KiSS RADiO. I can’t wait to share the news of my exciting, new opportunity in the coming weeks."
