A shocking video showing a rat scurrying around a Wetherspoon pub as hysterical punters climb onto tables and chairs has left social media in disbelief. Have a look below:
Sean Maguire, 23, was out with friends at the Bishop Vesey Wetherspoon pub in Birmingham when a rat was spotted scurrying around beneath tables.

Maguire was the one who filmed the chaos that broke out in the pub after alerting his fellow pub goers to the rat running loose.
In the video, which has attracted 130,000 TikTok views, Maguire can be heard shouting: "Guys, there is a rat in the Bishop" as one stunned customer simply says: "Mate."
The pub then erupts into chaos as men and women try to find out where the rat is hiding, with some standing on the tables and chairs in a state of panic as they try to avoid contact with the rodent.

Maguire then sets off to 'investigate', edging over a nearby table. He quickly manages to locate the rotund looking animal and shouts: "Ah, oh my god. Oh my god".
We then see the rat scurry off out of sight after being scared by the mass of hysterical punters.
The video has left internet users shocked and disgusted by the sighting of the rat, with one user saying: "I would have ran away."
Another wrote: "I'd be gone," while one person commented: “Somehow this is the most British thing I've ever seen.”

Maguire has since shared his account of the chaotic night which he branded as "hilarious".
He said: It was about 11 o’clock at night, I was sitting round a table with my friends when everyone started jumping on top of the tables and screaming.
“The rat then ran under our table so we did the same, I started recording and got it on camera. Then not long after that the bar staff asked everyone to leave."

“They [Wetherspoon staff] were kind of just scrambling - I don’t think they really knew what to do. “They just told everyone to leave."
“I was laughing to be honest, I thought it was hilarious. If there’s any pub you’re gonna find a rat in it will be a Wetherspoons.”
This isn't the first time a rat has wrecked havoc in a Wetherspoon pub, however, as in July 2017, a rat was filmed running across a seat before jumping and disappearing at the James Watt in Greenock.
A spokesman for Wetherspoon told LADbible: “We are aware of a video circulating of a rodent in the customer area at the Bishop Vesey pub on 12 May.

"We can confirm that this was an isolated incident, where a rodent had entered the pub through the open doors. It is thought that the pest activity was as a result of building works taking place next door to the pub.
"In the two weeks since the incident, a full pest management plan has been implemented, which includes weekly visits by pest contractor, Rentokil, and a number of other prevention measures.
"While it is unfortunate that the incident occurred, we are pleased to note that the measures appear to have been successful but will continue to be reviewed.
"Finally, the sighting is in no way a reflection of the pub, which was awarded the maximum food hygiene rating of 5 (out of 5) by the local authority and reflects excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene in place.”
