Has having a laugh ever ruined your life? If not, you might not know how this person feels after a DNA test went very wrong.
A man who wanted to joke around by testing his DNA ended up uprooting his life and uncovering his 'mum's 19-year-old secret'.
After deciding it would be something exciting to do whilst at university, the lad definitely couldn’t have predicted that it would turn out the way that it did.

Taking to Reddit, he explained how the test unveiled a major family secret when his results showed that he is 'half European and half Asian'.
Writing his post, he said: "I have a really great family - with my mum, 46, dad, 50 and twin sisters. We are a typical mid to upper class family but we used to be poor.
"My father's business exploded and absolutely changed our lives for the better. We are not a perfect family but we are always here for each other and I have a deep bond with my parents since we lived in Hell back then."
When with his university friends, the user explained that they had all ordered a DNA test so that they could compare their results with one another - but he didn’t expect his results... at all.

He continued: "I told everyone my results would not be that exciting since my parents are both European. Now here’s the problem - I’m only half European and the other half from Asia, mostly China and a bit of India. I’m absolutely sure no one from my family is from there and I know my grandparents really well."
The Redditor went on to share that he has a darker skin tone than his siblings and parents but didn’t think much of it.
"I’m absolutely freaking out that my mum could have cheated on my father. They have been together since they were 18,” he wrote.

"There has been nothing but genuine love between them and mum always supported my father in his ambitious works. I’m losing my mind I need advice please, I’m scared to lose my father I absolutely adore him.
"I tried to bring up DNA tests like a fun thing to do when I video-called my parents. While my father laughed and said why not, my mum stayed quiet and changed subject.”
When the call ended, he went on to share that his mum sent him a text to ‘scold’ him over not focusing on his studies instead of a silly DNA test.

He wrote: “This semester wasn’t my best but I always had good grades and it has never been an issue between us. She literally told me to not bring this idea anymore and just focus on my study.
"I really don’t know what to think. I've never had this kind of text from her, we don’t really argue a lot and I’ve always been close to her. I really feel like there is something hidden.
"I would have forgotten about this test and called it a mistake. But why did she react like that god dammit."
Though many in the comments were suggesting to re-test in case of an incorrect result, others wanted to put the poster at ease.

One user wrote: "It could be possible maybe a grandparent is the one who hasn't been honest or someone was adopted."
Another suggested that his parents may have struggled to conceive, asking: “Are you 100 per cent sure you’re not adopted?”
