Bizarre moment explained as news reporter's eyes appear to glitch during live broadcast

Settle down, it's not a secret glitch in the matrix or anything

Sometimes we see things we can't explain, but there are plenty of times where there's a perfectly good explanation we just don't know about.

If you're the sort of person who believes the moon isn't real and is nothing but a decoy to cover for the tidal activity caused by giant churning turbines which power the underground strongholds of our lizard overlords then you might need a reality check.

Just as the crew on Scooby-Doo would regularly discover that ghosts aren't real and the phantom haunting the disused fairground was really Old Man Willis, so too can you find a rational explanation for many things.

Take the above video, for example, it's a news broadcast from yesteryear but in one segment of it the reporter's eyes suddenly appear to 'glitch' as she blinks and her eyes seem to be fixed and glazed.

You might be thinking that this is some sort of glitch in the matrix, but rest assured there is a reason why this has happened.

Apparently this is due to something called a 'rolling screen repaint artifact'.

According to someone who watched this clip and has their head screwed on properly it happens sometimes on old antenna broadcast TV where the signal is a bit degraded when 'repainting the screen'.

When the news reporter blinks the screen gets repainted and the data for her eyes isn't quite all there as she moves her head, thus meaning some old data gets put over her eyes instead.

In essence it's just a technical glitch we get from old broadcasts where the image isn't always coming through crisp and clear.

Sorry to burst the bubble of any of you who thought you'd spotted an unpicked stitch in the thread of reality.

It's just a technical issue, not a tear in the fabric of reality. Or is that what they want you to believe? (CTV)

Besides, broadcasting the news is a perilously risky business where all sorts of things can go wrong.

You might remember the recent example where a newsreader didn't realise she was on TV and spent a minute scrolling on her phone.

Then of course there was the newsreader who flipped off a live broadcast, but again she didn't know she was actually live on air and was just having some fun with the camera crew.

There's also lots of other 'glitch in the matrix' moments which we've been able to see, so either the folks running this weird simulation we're all trapped in are doing a p**s poor job or weird stuff just happens from time to time.
