People Think Ringo Starr Predicted Exactly When Boris Johnson Would Resign

The former Beatles drummer called for 'peace and love' at midday on 7 July

Twitter users think legendary Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is in possession of psychic powers and predicted the exact time UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson would resign.

Starr shared a video to Twitter with a simple request for his two million followers. You can listen to his spookily clairvoyant message below:

In the 27 second clip, the icon can be heard saying: "Just to remind you one more time on the seventh of the seventh, the seventh of July at noon, at 12 midday, I just ask you to go Peace and Love."

Johnson took to the podium outside 10 Downing Street to confirm his resignation at around 12.30pm today.

The video has since had social media users questioning whether the drummer predicted Boris Johnson's resignation.

One user wrote: "I think Ringo might have been visited by someone from the future who told him about Boris Johnson's resignation."

Another user questioned: "Did Ringo specifically make him resign?"

A third said: "Did Ringo inadvertently cause Johnson to resign?"

Before we add psychic medium to the drummer's list of talents, in reality the video is a reference to Starr's 82nd birthday today.

Ringo Starr recently joined a campaign to send postcards to the recently ousted Prime Minister as part of the fight to tackle the climate crisis.

WaterAid’s Climate Fight campaign officially launched at Glastonbury festival. Festival-goers were able to send postcards to Johnson, calling for the government to take action.

Starr, who is a long time supporter of WaterAid, designed a postcard showing him at a tap that has run dry.

The ex-Beatle said: “We all share one world, and we need to come together to protect it, and each other, as we face the threat of climate change.

"I have long supported WaterAid and believe that it is a basic right that every human being should have access to clean water.

Boris Johnson resigned today following widespread condemnation from his cabinet ministers.

"I’ve designed a special postcard for this summer’s festivals, so people can join me in supporting this campaign for everyone to have clean water. Together we can create change. Peace and love.”

Earlier today, Johnson announced that he would be stepping down as the leader of the Conservative party and resigning as Prime Minister. The announcement comes after more than 50 MPs tendered their resignations since Tuesday.

Johnson has said he will continue to serve as Prime Minister 'until a new leader is in place'.

The outgoing Tory leader said: "As we’ve seen at Westminster, the herd is powerful and when the herd moves, it moves.

"Our brilliant and Darwinian system will produce another leader equally committed to taking this country forward through tough times."

A timetable for the election of a new leader will be announced next week.
