A professional sex toy tester has revealed the job isn't quite as 'glamourous' as one might think.
Edwina Caito has more than 30 years experience with sex toys and has been previously dubbed 'The Sex Toy Lady' by clients.
However, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows and the US-based sexpert claims she got into the business 'purely out of necessity' to support her kids.
She told LADbible: "I was a single mum with two children, one of which had a life threatening illness.
"One of the weekends they were gone to their dad's, I decided to have a 'ladies night in' and host a sex toy party. The lady who did the party was local and ran the company herself with just a few sales people.
"Not only did the owner of the company tell me I would be a great salesperson, I could do it on weekends when my kids were away.
"My friends thought I would be so good at it, they pooled together their money and paid for my starter kit."
Edwina now works as head content creator with independent blog Bedbible.com, who write on 'all sorts of intimate subjects as well as reviews on sex toys and other intimate, adult products'.
Despite loving what she does, the sexpert takes her job very seriously.
She added: "It's not as glamorous as one might think, at least not for me.
"Although I am excited when a new toy arrives in my mailbox, I don't look at it as 'Omg! Yay! I get to masturbate today!'
"I see it as a serious task and want to make sure my readers have all of the information they need to make a sound purchase.
"Sure, I do enjoy it, who doesn't like a great O or three? And my favourite toys? They go into my nightstand, while the others get packed away in a cardboard box in my closet. I absolutely love what I do."
The sexpert also says that there are three major misconceptions that people have with her line of work.
She explains: "One, that sex toys are only for young, wild couples.
"Two, that sex toys are for people who can't get laid.
"Three, that sex toys are for twisted, perverted people with wild, crazy fetishes.
"Although number 3 can be true in some cases."
Well, if you thought being a sex toy tester was quite straight forward, you're probably wrong.
Edwina explains: "Once I receive a sex toy in the mail, I start grading it immediately, starting with the packaging, what's included inside - extra points for a storage bag and packaging without nudity.
"I plug in the charger, see how well it holds, how long it takes to charge, then check the material - is it soft to the touch? Is it flexible? What body parts is this good for? Can it be used on all genitals or just vaginas? How powerful is the motor? Is it loud? Does it travel well?
"I try and think of every single person out there that may want to purchase the toy and the features that may be important to them.
"Then, of course, I use the toy (if it's a toy meant for vaginas). And I describe how the toy operated, how it felt and how strong of an orgasm it gave me.
"Afterward, I write my review, take photos and do a video review. The most important aspect of my reviews is honesty. I will tell you 100 percent if I liked it or not."
"However, I always state that every body is different - some need stronger vibrations, some need softer (like me). That way, even if the toy wasn't my favourite, someone with different needs will know which toy might be the perfect one for them."
