Despite his loss to Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua still took home a huge amount of money last night (21 September).
The boxers went head-to-head at London’s Wembley Stadium for the IBF title, with AJ hoping to become three-time world champion.
However, Dubois knocked Joshua out in the fifth round in front of a huge crowd of 96,000.

And after he was spectacularly knocked down by his opponent, he had an immediate two-word reaction which left plenty of fans talking.
But win or lose, the 34-year-old is still reportedly set to make a major bag from the event.
Before the face-off last night, it was reported that there would be 60-40 split in Joshua’s favour for the payday.

And according to Sporty Salaries, he was guaranteed to take home a whopping £6million from the fight.
Plus, this could then rise to as much as an absolutely mega £25million depending on the pay-per-view (PPV) sales.
This is quite the comparison to Dubois, who was expected to earn at least £3.5million with a potential rise up to £10million based on the PPV sales, the report claims.

If this is all accurate, it’s said this could still be Dubois’ biggest payday to date, despite being significantly less than Joshua’s.
That’s because, according to Manchester Evening News, while his opponent might be the reigning IBF champion, AJ simply has a larger draw in the boxing world.

But fair play to Dubois because when he won last night, he shouted to the crowd: “Are you not entertained?”
When he was asked if the win was the best of the career, he said: “I think so.
“God had something planned for me and my dad has been there every step of the way, getting me through to this point. Without him, I wouldn't be here.”

Fans watching the fight last night spotted a ‘break’ with tradition at the start.
As a general rule, it's the defending champion who is supposed to step into the ring second, making the challenger wait for their dramatic entrance.
But for this fight, the roles were reversed, with The Sun claiming it was because Joshua was 'the A-side and bigger name', while The Guardian called the swap 'a clear sign that [Dubois] was meant to play a supporting role to the Joshua Show'.
Well, despite all of that and the difference in purses, Dubois showed us all he is clearly the true champ.
LADbible has contacted Dubois’ and Joshua’s reps for comment.
