It was the first thing on his mind

Anthony Joshua had a brutal callout for Tyson Fury just moments after his sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul.

Despite AJ vs Fury being the fight we’ve all wanted for years, the boxing world was rocked when Netflix announced that the former heavyweight world champion would be taking on the YouTuber-turned-boxer this December.

The 36-year-old, who said there was ‘zero chance’ the fight would go the distance, made sure it didn’t with a powerful knockout after a series of knockdowns in the fifth round, with referee Christopher Young forced to step in as the former heavyweight champion's opponent was guilty of spending a lot of time on the floor.

The fight certainly didn't go down entirely as people assumed, with the referee also having to give AJ and Paul a brutal warning mid-fight, with his comments being heard on Netflix’s coverage.

After securing the victory, Joshua had just one thing on his mind, and it was calling out his British rival, Tyson Fury.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani inside the ring, Joshua said: "We shook off the cobwebs. I can't wait for 2026.

"If Tyson Fury is as serious as he says he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on some gloves, and come and fight one of the realest fighters out there, step into there with me next if you're a really bad boy."

Eddie Hearn weighed in on the matter too, adding: "We want the Tyson Fury fight. That's the biggest fight in boxing.

"Respect to Jake Paul, he did a great job. 2026, back to the real business. Tyson Fury and the world heavyweight championship."

But any prospective fight with Fury will, of course, have to wait a little while, as both Paul and Joshua must now serve bans from boxing after their fight in Miami.

For Paul, it's a rest that is no doubt needed after he faced up against his toughest opponent yet, and he certainly didn't do himself any disservice after lasting until the sixth round.

He said: "I'm feeling good, that was fun, I love this sport. I gave it my all; it's crazy. I had a blast, thank you to all the fans. Anthony Joshua is a great fighter, I got beat, but that's what this sport is about. I will come back and keep on winning.

"I've already won in every single way of life. My family, my beautiful fiancé, this sport has helped me so much in my life.

"I think my jaw is broken, it's definitely broke. That was good, I'll come back and get a world championship belt at some point."
