Former Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of one count of rape and one count of attempted rape today (14 July) at Chester Crown Court.
This follows a previous verdict in January where the footballer was found not guilty of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
At that trial, the jury had been unable to reach a verdict in two of the cases, requiring a retrial on them.
One was a charge of rape involving a 24-year-old woman at his Cheshire mansion in October 2020, and the other a charge of attempted rape with a 29-year-old woman two years prior.
The jury at the retrial on those two charges delivered a verdict of not guilty to the footballer, who had formerly been under contract at Manchester City, but was let go by the club when his contract expired in June.
