England fans will have to make choice following major clash this weekend after team won Euros group

England fans will have to make choice following major clash this weekend after team won Euros group

Football fans have a difficult choice to make

England fans will be forced to make a tough decision this weekend after the Three Lions emerged victorious in Group C.

Last night (25 June) England managed to top their Euro 2024 despite a dismal draw against Slovenia, which means they will next play the third placed side from either Group D, E or F on Sunday 30 June at 5pm.

England's performance against Slovenia was less than convincing, with the Three Lions ending their group stage run with a draw 0-0 draw.

As for England's next opponent, as things stand it's most likely to be the Netherlands - who finished third place in Group D. Meanwhile the third placed teams in Groups E and F are still to be decided.

But many football fanatics might not be able to watch this critical match.

Music fans will be aware that this weekend is Glastonbury, the mother of all festivals.

In previous years a clash between the world renowned festival in Somerset and major sporting events weren't an issue, as the festival would screen major matches for fans ahead of the live music.

However, this won't be the case this year, as Glastonbury organisers made the controversial decision against airing the Three Lions' next match.

In a statement released before Scotland were dumped out of the tournament, the festival's organisers said: "In previous years, we have endeavoured to show notable matches on big screens where possible, particularly on days before the main stages have opened.

"However, with England and Scotland's last 16 matches potentially clashing with headline sets at this year's festival, the decision has been made that - as in 2014 and 2016 - should England or Scotland qualify from their groups, their last 16 matches will not be shown at the festival."

The statement went on to wish Gareth Southgate's team all the best in their upcoming match, adding: "We hope we'll all be able to watch them play quarter-final matches in the days after this year's festival."

The decision means that football fans attending the festival - or music fans tuning into Worthy Farm from home - will need to make a choice.

Will you be watching England take on their next challenge in the tournament?

Should Glasto fans stay loyal to Southgate's team, they'll miss performances from the likes of Janelle Monae and Burna Boy on the Pyramid Stage or Avril Lavigne and Two Door Cinema Club on the Other Stage.

However, you should be able to make it in time for RnB singer SZA's headline set - if you're willing to miss the post-match commentary of course.
