Erling Haaland tapes his mouth shut when he sleeps at night

Erling Haaland tapes his mouth shut when he sleeps at night

Footballer Erling Haaland has taken getting forty winks to a whole new extreme by taping his mouth as part of an intense bedtime routine.

Most people who try to improve their sleep will ditch the phone before bedtime and cut back on caffeine.

However, footballer Erling Haaland has taken getting forty winks to a whole new extreme by taping his mouth shut before bed (Yes, you read that right).

Whilst this hack may sound like a total nightmare, the Manchester City striker insists it has helped him sleep and improved his performance on the pitch.

The Norwegian footballer made the bizarre admission during Logan Paul’s ‘Impaulsive podcast’, appearing alongside the influencer-turned-MMA fighter.

As the athletes shared their training tips with KSI, the 23-year-old striker admitted that he has an intense night-time routine.

"I think sleep is the most important thing in the world,” he told listeners, as he revealed how the lengthy prep he undergoes each night.

He added: “To sleep good, simple kind of things like blue-blocking glasses, shutting out all the signals in the bedroom, I think is really important."

Turns out Paul is just as picky about his bedtime routine and wears nasal stripes to improve his sleep.

He said: “I’m sure you know, nostril breathing is the way forward…” to which the Premier League player had a brutal comeback: "You should try and tape your mouth then.”

The Manchester City striker has also spoken about his strict diet.

Haaland went on to explain that he uses mouth tape to encourage his body to breathe through the nostrils – which is said to be healthier.

“I sleep with it. Doing a lot of things is not good but doing small things every single day for a longer period really pays off," said the striker.

Before you turn your nose up at this, it’s thought that nasal breathing increases oxygenation in the body - which can improve athletic performance.

Considering his 36-goal record last season, he might be onto something.

However, we wouldn’t want to follow the Scandi football player’s insane diet.

The 23-year-old recently revealed that he eats cow heart and liver as part of a strict diet, which is aimed at improving his performance on the pitch.

He was even filmed showing off the chunks of meat to film crews in the documentary, Haaland: The Big Decision.

"You (other people) don't eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body," he said, as he explained his intense diet.

"I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important."

With mouth tape and the meat-fueled munching, Haaland is starting to sound a little Hannibal-esqe.

Here’s hoping he gets at least some cheat days soon!
