Jake Paul confirms new opponent for next fight after Mike Tyson was ruled out following medical emergency

Jake Paul confirms new opponent for next fight after Mike Tyson was ruled out following medical emergency

Jake Paul has announced his next opponent after his bout against Mike Tyson was postponed

Jake Paul has announced his next boxing opponent after his fight with Mike Tyson was pushed back following health concerns around the 57-year-old.

'The Baddest Man on the planet' suffered from an ulcer flare-up while onboard a flight, which required urgent medical attention upon touching down.

Following Tyson's health scare, the long-awaited match-up between the pair, that was set to stream live on Netflix, has been pushed back to 'a later date', which was later announced to be 15 November.

It meant that the date that sports fans were looking forward to had been vacated, and so too has the 80,000 capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The boxer has announced today (Tuesday 18 June) that he will face off against Mixed Martial Arts fighter Mike Perry on Saturday 20 July instead, in Tampa, Florida.

Instead of streaming on Netflix, this fight will be available on DAZN PPV.

Paul wrote on Instagram: "1 Mike, 2 Mikes, 3 Mikes, 4. The fact is every opponent has touched the floor.

"5 months until Tyson and I go to war. So in the meantime me & Perry are going to make Tampa roar.

"I fear no man, anytime, anywhere, anyplace. On July 20th it’s going to be another W, so let us say grace.

"For the BKFC champ, who will take a knee. Then we will go to Ireland and take McGregors equity."

Following Tyson's medical emergency, Netflix were quick to reassure fans the fight would take place at a later date.

"Tyson’s recent ulcer flare up has limited his ability to train fully for the next few weeks," they wrote on X.

"The fight will be rescheduled for a date later this year after Mike’s able to resume training with no limitations and both fighters can have equal time to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup!”

Paul previously took to social media to share his thoughts on the situation: "Obviously devastating news, I'm heartbroken, speechless, like gutted.

"We've been working so hard over here, everyone in this camp, and I just feel bad for everyone involved in this event, the whole undercard, this opportunity has been ripped from all of us."

He continued: "But I do value Mike's health first and foremost. Love that guy, I have so much respect for him and I want Mike to be healthy.

"He says he still is gonna knock me out and I bought myself some time, so Mike is still talking s**t over there, but Mike if you want to do this behind closed doors, behind the scenes you say you want to do this in Q4 you just need a little bit of time.

"I'm ready whenever you are, this is too big of an opportunity, I think this fight's gonna change the world and I turn all my L's into W's.

"That's the motto I live by, the universe makes no mistakes so let's see what's in store, but sorry this didn't work out to everyone, the fans, love you guys."

He later posted the new date for their bout: 15 November 2024.

"New date, same place, same fate," he penned, alongside a poster of himself and Tyson.
