Joe Hart explained tattoo on arm as Euros viewers question what it is

Joe Hart explained tattoo on arm as Euros viewers question what it is

Before England kicked off against Serbia, viewers were left wondering about Hart's ink

Summer has finally kicked off and Southgate's lads are hopefully, finally, going to bring it home.

England's Euro 2024 campaign is now up and running as they hope to get the three points against Serbia this evening (16 June), in a group also consisting of Denmark and Slovenia.

Now, during BBC's pre-kick off coverage of the game, some viewers were slightly dumfounded by Joe Hart and it wasn't for his analysis.

Football fans were paying close attention to the 37-year-old's arm tattoos, which some say resembled 'gaffer tape'.

Taking to social media, one viewer wrote: "Do you reckon Joe Hart has any tattoos that he regrets?"

"What the hell has Joe Hart done. Please tell me that these are not tattoos omg," a second added.

"Love the creativity with Joe Hart’s tattoos," a third penned.

With a fourth also commenting: "Can anyone tell me what possessed Joe Hart to get those tattoos done??"

Well, there is an explanation behind the ink work, as Hart shared a series of images of the armour tattoos on Insta back in 2019.

Thanking his tattoo artist Hanu Mantra, he said: "You are the man @hanumantra thank you, this is the only time of year I could take this on so I appreciate you fitting me in and smashing it!!

"I got my armour on now... let's see what's next.

"Not everyone's taste I understand that but this definitely represents me and thank you for making it happen."

The former Premier League winner played for Celtic this season, before announcing his decision to retire from football.

"I got to a point, I had a very good 20s, my football was really good but then I struggled a bit in terms of my place," he said.

"Then I got this opportunity then which I couldn't turn down.

"But I didn't know how it was going to play out, I wanted to commit for the three years and give everything.

"I got to a point in my life where I was potentially on the way out and got another opportunity.

"I don't want to push that luck, I want to finish strong, in a special place, in a special club.

"That's just me - it's my time to move aside and let someone else have some fun. It's definitely not physical, I feel fine.

"But I felt like this was the right moment.

"I felt really uncomfortable knowing but not telling the manager or the lads.

"I wanted to say it, and for everyone to understand that I was doing it and make sure I worked hard and was at my peak when I finished."
