Huge replacement has stepped forward to take Mike Tyson’s place in Jake Paul fight

Huge replacement has stepped forward to take Mike Tyson’s place in Jake Paul fight

The highly anticipated bout in Dallas, Texas, has been postponed

Although 'big boy' Jake Paul has indeed 'signed the contract', his upcoming boxing match with Mike Tyson has been put on hold.

And one man close to home has put his name forward if a replacement fighter is needed.

In a fight that's rubbed boxing purists up the wrong way, the pair were due to get in the ring on 20 July, live on Netflix.

Paul's, 27, last fight took place earlier this year following his win over professional boxer Ryan Bourland.

Meanwhile, the last time Tyson, 57, fought was in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, scored as a draw.

However, Paul's Most Valuable Promotions announced the postponement on Friday (31 May) saying that Tyson's ulcer flare-up will prevent him from training properly in the lead up to the fight.

"Both Mike and Jake are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level," the statement read.

"The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself."

Now, amid the chaos, it seems that Jake's older brother Logan Paul, 29, has put himself forward if a replacement was needed.

The YouTuber/WWE star - who fought Floyd Mayweather in the boxing ring in 2021 - tweeted: "So Mike Tyson’s out? I’ll step in and we can settle this once and for all."

As good as a brother vs brother matchup would be, it seems both Paul and Tyson have agreed to postpone the fight.

"I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time,' Tyson said amid the news.

"Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.

"My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon.

"Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good.

"I appreciate everyone’s patience and can't wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year."

Paul added: “I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night.

“My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.

“Paul vs Tyson will be one for the ages, and I promise to bring my best for this once-in-a-lifetime matchup.”

Sorry Logan, maybe next time.
