Fans obsessed with ‘dream job’ they’ve spotted at the Olympics as hilarious footage of workers goes viral

Fans obsessed with ‘dream job’ they’ve spotted at the Olympics as hilarious footage of workers goes viral

Sports fans have spotted a pair of unlikely stars while watching coverage of the Paris Olympics

While keeping an eye on all of the sporting action which is unfolding in Paris, fans have noticed that the athletes aren't the only heroes at this year's Olympics.

It's easy to overlook all the hard work which goes on behind the scenes to make massive events like this happen when you're watching the competition from home, however, it takes thousands of people to put on this kind of show.

This year, even Snoop Dogg has got in on a slice of the fun after being hired as a special correspondent for broadcasting giant NBC - and he's reportedly being paid handsomely for it.

But there's also a string of other more modest - but just as important - roles to fulfil at the Olympics, and fans reckon that one certain pair of employees have the 'dream job'.

As those obsessed with watching every Olympic event will already know, the track and field events are well underway in the French capital - meaning the battle for a medal in the Javelin Throw has also begun.

And while watching the coverage of Saturday's (3 August) evening session, viewers spotted a dynamic duo putting a graft in...but it looked like they were having a jolly old time, rather than clock-watching until the end of their shift.

The athletes actually slinging the javelins across the stadium were somewhat upstaged by the two blokes who were piloting the remote control cars which go and collect the spears after they've been hurled through the air.

It's certainly a more modern approach to collecting the gear, as normally, someone would have to yank the javelins out of the ground before racing back to the throwing point with them.

Now, the spears travel in style - and people are seriously jealous of the blokes who get to play the elaborate game of fetch throughout the Javelin Throw events.

In a TikTok which showed what one of their typical shifts would look like, sports fan Dave Gibson said: "I don't want money, I don't want fame.

"I just want to be one of the two blokes whose job it is to sit on chairs in the Stade de France and drive the remote control cars back and forth collecting the Javelins after they've been thrown at the Olympics," he continued.

"No stress, just sat down with your bestie chatting, driving cool mini-cars and watching Olympians do stuff all around you.

"Best seats in the house, best job in the world."

The pair drove their remote control cars across the filed to collect the javelins, before performing a quick U-turn before another member of staff would grab the spear when it arrived back.

People are seriously envious of the pair and flooded the comment section with their thoughts.

One said: "Living the dream!"

Another joked: "How do you apply?"

A third added: "Oh, I was MADE for this job."

A fourth wrote: "Like, who even thought about this?! It's brilliant and I would like to apply."

While a fifth chimed in: "This would be the best summer job ever. Meet cute athletes AND get to drive toy cars!!"

While Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk vomited after swimming in the river, Belgian triathlete Jolien Vermeylen admitted she 'felt and saw things that we shouldn’t think about too much'.

It came after health concerns were raised over the pollution levels in the river, with the country splashing out a cool £1.18 billion on cleaning it up in time for the games.

Freddie Crittenden jogs for entire race on purpose

The Team USA star purposely put on a leisurely performance in his first heat of the Men's 110m hurdles and ended up being the last one to make it across the finish line with a time of 18.27 seconds.

The athlete said it was a calculated move to avoid aggravating a sore muscle in his leg and due to the introduction of repechage rounds, he knew that he'd have another chance at glory.

'Slow pool' accusations

The pool at the Paris La Défense Arena is 2.15 metres deep which is short of the minimum of 2.5 metres that World Aquatics recommends for an Olympic competition, prompting backlash from viewers.

As a result of the difference in depth, an issue called 'slow' swimming is created where the water is more volatile when dispersed than in a deeper pool.

Speaking about his accommodation, Ceccon said: "It's hard to sleep both at night and in the afternoon. Usually, when I'm at home, I always sleep in the afternoon. Here I really struggle between the heat and the noise."
