A brave surgeon in Ukraine has saved a soldier's life after removing a live grenade from their body without it detonating.
It will soon be a year since Vladimir Putin first launched what he called a 'special military operation' but was blatantly an invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops.
Putin's hopes that Russia would secure a swift victory did not last long as his forces became bogged down and failed to defeat the Ukrainian army.

One soldier who will continue to be able to do that recently survived a very close shave after getting a live grenade embedded in his chest and needed surgery to remove the bomb, even though it could have exploded at any moment.
Posting the incredible surgical feat to Facebook, the Ukrainian military paid tribute to one of their most experienced surgeons, Major-General Andriy Verba, who carried out the operation.
They explained that assisting the talented surgeon in his efforts were a pair of sappers who supervised the procedure to keep both surgeon and patient as safe as possible when dealing with a live grenade.
The weapon in question is known as a VOG grenade, an explosive round designed to be fired from a grenade launcher.

This particular bomb became lodged in the torso of one Ukrainian soldier, who has since been sent on for further rehabilitation and recovery after the successful surgery.
Major-General Verba was later pictured holding the unexploded bomb after his successful surgery.
He had to perform the surgical procedure without the use of electrocoagulation, which is the use of an electrical current to destroy abnormal tissue and control bleeding over fears that it could detonate the grenade.
